All of our programs and classes are taught by volunteers. Volunteers do not need to have prior experience teaching computers or English! Generally, each class is taught by one lead teacher and one assistant teacher. For computer classes, familiarity with personal computers and the Microsoft Office suite is helpful. For English classes, experience in learning a second language is helpful but not required. Some training for volunteers is provided.
The Chairman or Program Directors interview all prospective volunteers and seek to expand People Without Borders' offerings according to the abilities of its volunteers. English and computer teachers are needed every new session and possible future courses include Spanish and Immigration Help. Help is also needed in administrative tasks, student recruitment, fundraising, and community relations. Contact us by e-mail for more information. |
